Ebrahim K. Kanoo launches the new Toyota Zelas Sports Coupe

Ebrahim K. Kanoo, the sole distributor of Toyota and Lexus in the Kingdom of Bahrain, launched the all-new Toyota Zelas sports coupe at Bahrain City Centre on December 9th, 2010.
The Toyota Zelas’s premium styling and features redefines its segment to meet the desires of the evolving sports coupe buyers. It has aggressive styling with new technologies but its most appealing aspect is the impressive driving performance that adds to the driver’s experience.

The unique and urban Zelas provides tremendous value to the driver and caters the diverse demands of today’s young generation through its exciting, unique and impressive features in addition to its responsive engine performance, good road grip and comfortable handling.
 
The Toyota Zelas was unveiled for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain at a press launch at Bahrain City Centre in presence of Ebrahim K. Kanoo officials, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) officials and media representatives.

“The new Toyota Zelas has been specifically designed to transform the driving experience of young people and make them feel they are sitting behind the wheels of a true and pure sports car,” said Toyota and Lexus Brand Manager Mr. Ayman Shehadeh.

He added, “The Zelas will exceed the expectations of Bahrain’s youth as it has a very aggressive design and was made to be easily personalized.”

178-hp Engine with High Fuel Efficiency
The 178 horsepower, 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine offers the latest in efficient, lightweight technology, including Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). The new Zelas also has electronic power-steering system that contributes to increased fuel efficiency.

The Zelas offers drivers the choice of two all-new six-speed transmissions, each adding driving excitement and excellent fuel economy.  The manual transmission features confident shifts that are direct and precise. The automatic transmission boasts sequential shifting, providing an additional fun-to-drive element. As a result, the Zelas has quicker acceleration and higher fuel economy within its segment. It also has an option of paddle-shifters.

Enhanced Driving Performance
The Zelas enters the market riding on an enhanced platform, as its 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are wrapped in wider tires, giving it a broader stance and elevated handling characteristics.  The new model also comes standard with disc brakes on all corners.
 
Aggressive Styling
The new Zelas design projects a bolder, more aggressive stance. It is a high-impact sports coupe with simple and unique elements, and one of its boldest design features is the sleek cabin shape with wrap-around window graphics that add to its sporty profile.
 
The sleek front grille and projector headlamps are complemented by protruding fender flares, which amplify its wider, lower stance. While the front interlocks with the dynamic, muscular rear fenders. The shape of the rear taillights flow cleanly into the overall shape of the trunk, finalizing the iconic and purposeful nature of the design.

The Toyota Zelas comes in seven colours; Super White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Cement Gray Metallic, Black, Blackish Red Mica and Dark Blue Mica.    

Interior Design Offers both Comfort and Convenience
The sporty design of the new Zelas carries over to the interior with a look and feel that is sophisticated, sporty and functional.
 
The sporty new Zelas has significant interior upgrades in the area of driver and passenger comfort and convenience as the front cabin design provides a driver centered cockpit with spaciousness and freedom. Added comfort was also accomplished by making the seats thicker, with firmer seat bolsters while entry and exit for rear passengers has been made easy with a walk-in lever located at shoulder level on the front seats.
 
Audio System Designed to Impress
The Zelas features a powerful standard audio system with a total of 234-watts feeding the 8 speaker sound package. With an emphasis on amazing sound quality, it features mid-range and woofer speakers that are superior.
 
Comprehensive Standard Safety Features
The Zelas is installed with premium safety features such as 8 SRS airbags for the driver, front passenger and rear seats. It also comes standard with Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
Additional standard equipment in the Zelas includes Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and a brake override system. The Zelas also features a button that allows the driver to turn off the VSC feature. Additional safety features include newly adopted active front headrests.
